Recorder
Recorder is in fact one of most versatile instruments. But also one of the most - or maybe the last - undiscovered. It is one of the oldest instruments in the world.
Now it's still evolving, showing a fascinating process of finding it's individuality and endless capabilities. Modern recorders are more and more different than it's baroque and renaissance predecessors. You can see a MODERN instrument now.
Also most of ancient cultures used or still use some kinds of blockflutes.
To list some of them:
Algoza - Pakistan
American Indians
India
Ukraine
Bulgaria
Hungary
Poland
Japan
China
Africa
Suling - Java/Gamelan
"The recorder is the most highly developed member of the ancient family of internal duct flutes, flutes with a fixed windway formed by a wooden plug or block.
It is distinguished from other internal duct flutes by having holes for seven fingers and a single hole for the thumb which also serves as an octaving vent."
Today the recorder is one of the mosts vividly developing and changing musical instruments.
In the last 20 years the instrument was completely redesigned and improved leading to a new generation of modern recorders,
combining the best from historical instruments and modern developments.
NOTE: If you know anything about any traditional recorders (flutes with a heapiece with block and FIXED WINDWAY) i.e. names, country and construction details,
